Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about SimplyTap NFC cards

About NFC Technology

How does NFC technology work?

Near Field Communication (NFC) uses electromagnetic radio fields to transmit data between devices in close proximity. When an NFC-enabled smartphone comes within a few centimeters of an NFC tag, it can read the information stored on the tag.

The tag contains a small microchip and an antenna, and it's powered by the electromagnetic field generated by your phone. This means the tag doesn't need a battery, making it cost-effective and durable.

Do visitors need a special app to use SimplyTap?

No, SimplyTap does not require any special app. Most modern smartphones (iPhone and Android) have built-in NFC capabilities. When a person taps their phone to a SimplyTap card, the phone's operating system handles the interaction automatically.

On iPhones (iOS 14+), the phone will display a notification when it detects an NFC tag. On Android devices (Android 4.4+), the phone will either automatically open the linked URL or show a notification, depending on the phone's settings.

Are NFC cards secure?

Yes, NFC cards are secure for their intended purpose. SimplyTap cards are designed to simply open a specific URL when tapped. They do not store any personal data and cannot access information on the user's phone.

Additionally, the very short range of NFC (usually less than 4 inches) provides a layer of physical security, as someone would need to be very close to a card to interact with it.

Using SimplyTap

What type of content can SimplyTap cards link to?

SimplyTap cards can link to any URL on the web. Common uses include:

  • Digital giving portals
  • Visitor connection forms
  • Digital bulletins or service information
  • Event registration pages
  • Church social media profiles
  • Ministry sign-up forms
  • Sermon notes or resources

Can we change the URL after cards are programmed?

The URL programmed onto the NFC card itself cannot be changed after production. However, there are two effective approaches to maintaining flexibility:

  1. Use a URL that you control (like a page on your church website) and update the content on that page as needed.
  2. Use a URL redirection service that allows you to change the destination URL without changing the NFC cards.

We recommend using a dedicated landing page on your church website that you can update as needed, rather than linking directly to external services that might change their URLs.

How do we install the SimplyTap cards?

All SimplyTap products come with adhesive backing for easy installation. For optimal results:

  1. Clean the surface with alcohol or a surface cleaner
  2. Let it dry completely
  3. Remove the protective backing from the adhesive
  4. Press firmly onto the desired surface and hold for 30 seconds

For sanctuary seating, we recommend placing the stickers on the back of chairs or pews where they are easily visible but won't interfere with comfort.

Ordering & Customization

How do we customize our SimplyTap cards?

During the ordering process, you'll provide:

  • Your church logo (in high-resolution format)
  • Any text you want printed on the cards
  • The URL you want the cards to link to
  • Color preferences (we recommend using your church's brand colors)

Our design team will create a proof for your approval before production begins.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Our minimum order quantity is 50 units for any product type. However, we offer bulk discounts starting at 100 units, so ordering in larger quantities provides better value.

For churches just starting with NFC technology, we recommend ordering enough cards for about 25-50% of your average attendance, focusing on installing them in the most frequently used areas first.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes, we offer volume discounts to make larger orders more cost-effective:

  • Orders of 1000+ units: 10% discount
  • Orders of 5000+ units: 20% discount

These discounts are automatically applied during checkout based on the quantity ordered.

How long does production and shipping take?

Standard production time is 5-7 business days after design approval. Shipping typically takes an additional 3-5 business days within the continental United States.

Rush production and expedited shipping options are available for an additional fee. Please contact us directly if you have a specific deadline to meet.
